Dishing up for Charity!
Carmelo’s energy with his passion for food, synonymous with his zeal for philanthropy continues to benefit various organizations in Houston and Austin. During the course of the next weeks we’ll share what he and the restaurants have been cooking up in 2016!
“Cooking Up a Cure” sparked Carmelo’s curiosity when Chef Mark Cox invited him to be a part of the inaugural fund raising event, on January 28th, supporting the Food Allergy Program at the Texas Children’s Hospital, where the dedicated doctors are working on desensitizing children whose allergies can cause mild to life threatening reactions.
Each participating chef was given a choice of food allergens they would like to prepare their courses with. Carmelo choosing dairy, eggs and fish, delighted the three hundred guests attending the event, at Station 3 with Capellini alla Crema di Tartufo (Capellini pasta with black truffles), Wild Mushroom risotto with Veal Ossobucco and sautéed Cod served with a puree of peas.
Stay tuned for more next week!
