In 1998, Carmelo's was informed by the judges of the International Illumination Design Awards program that they had been named a recipient of The Edwin F. Guth Memorial Award for Interior Lighting Special Citation for Fiber Optic Wall Lighting. Kamran Mousoon Architects, A.I.A and designer Linda Cummings received congratulations from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the sponsoring organization.
